Haitian and Chilean Earthquakes
April 1, 2010Why are there so many earthquakes? Is it going to happen to us? These are some of the questions we ask ourselves every day. There are so many earthquakes that happened in Haiti and Chile. I think that if I were one of the people over there, I would be really scared. I would also be very grateful for the help that is given.
This tragedy killed many people and destroyed many homes and buildings. The people, who live over there, have nothing else left of their homes and food. Many were hurt, many died, and many children were left orphans.
In Haiti, they have gone though a lot of problems. They have had problems with sick people and trying to get food. They have very little food and they are starving. They have food dropped down to them from planes. Troops have helped them to find loved ones, friends, and family. They have helped Haiti a lot in the past months.
Chile was the third earthquake this year, so far. There were over three hundred deaths and a lot of injuries. Can you imagine smoke from homes and looking at the sky that’s black with smoke? Could you imagine walking past a building and seeing it split in half? What if you saw a bridge that had been there all your life, and it broke in half? What if you had to fight people just to get food? Many people saw loved ones on the street, dead. These are just a few of the things people saw on the streets.
John Rolfe has been raising money for Haiti to help people with the rebuilding of their town. We have raised lots of money to help them out. People have donated money and have their name on a piece of paper on the wall. They have their name on the wall how ever many times they donated money.
